Hotel Lilien, nestled in the Catskills region of New York just two hours from Manhattan, offers a perfect blend of cozy comfort and chic style. This Tannersville hotel, which began welcoming weekend guests quietly over the summer, will officially open for weekday stays starting December 1.
With only 18 rooms, Lilien promises an intimate, boutique atmosphere. Guests can choose between the Main Estate, with its mix of modern and vintage charm, and the more recently added Deck Rooms and Suites, featuring Scandinavian design and pet-friendly options.
The hotel, set on an estate from the 1890s formerly known as Washington Irving Inn, beautifully marries historical elements with high-end glamour. Original stained-glass windows, wood paneling, and brass hardware have been preserved, while luxurious modern upgrades include Carrara marble walls, designer light fixtures, stylish lounge chairs, wool rugs, and premium bedding. Relax in the restored cocktail bar, complete with a wood-burning fireplace, or enjoy the library’s blend of books and Victorian antiques. Outside, a fire pit and pool offer inviting spots for year-round outdoor enjoyment.
The transformation was executed by San Francisco’s Field Theory, an interior-design firm and décor shop. Jason Marcus, a managing partner and co-owner of the hotel, resides in the nearby community of Tannersville.
Run by the Lost Boys Hospitality Group—Marcus and three friends—the team brings their experience from developing restaurants and hostels in Panama to this hotel venture. Notably, they created the Mondo Taitu Hostel, which garnered a dedicated following, as reported by the New York Times.
For nature enthusiasts, Hotel Lilien is ideally located on eight acres near Hunter Mountain and Kaaterskill Wild Forest, with easy access to hiking and biking trails. Hotel-organized hikes are led by a state-licensed guide, and in winter, guests can use complimentary snowshoes and sleds. Après-ski events with seasonal cocktails add to the winter fun.
Come spring, a new dining option will be introduced: Nat’s Mountain House, offering a country twist on Nat’s popular New York City establishments.
Room rates begin at $270 and include a complimentary breakfast.
