Frontier Airlines, known for its budget-friendly flights, is running a special two-day sale with one-way tickets starting at just $11. This offer ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on July 29, 2020. However, there’s a catch—these low fares are only available to members of Frontier’s Discount Den program, and there are many limitations on travel dates and destinations.
Discount Den is a membership service that lets you access exclusive deals on Frontier flights, like the current sale. The membership costs $59.99 per year and comes with its own set of rules. For example, Frontier reserves the right to cancel, extend, or suspend the membership at any time for any reason, and memberships automatically renew. If canceled after renewal, the membership fee is non-refundable. Typically, Discount Den fares are $5 to $30 cheaper than regular prices, but sometimes the savings are much more, such as the $11 ticket from Denver (DEN) to Newark (EWR), which usually costs $65.
You can book tickets for travel from August 5 to December 17, 2020, but not all routes, like New York’s LaGuardia to Chicago’s O’Hare, are available until October. The sale is for nonstop domestic flights only and excludes travel on these dates: September 3-4 and 7, October 8-12 and 16-18, and November 19 to December 1, 2020. Fares are non-refundable after 24 hours, and cancellation fees can be up to $119, which might cancel out any savings. Although Frontier has waived change fees until July 31, 2020, it’s uncertain if these discounted fares qualify.
The $11 flights do exist, but primarily for routes leaving from Denver, Frontier’s main hub. For other locations, the discounted fares can go up to $129. Even if you find a great deal for your preferred travel dates, seats are limited. Additional fees apply for selecting a seat in advance and bringing carry-on or checked luggage. For instance, on the DEN to EWR flight, a carry-on costs at least $27, a checked bag is $32, and seat selection fees range from $17 to $55.
If you’re interested in this offer and are already a Discount Den member, it could be worthwhile. Keep in mind, Frontier requires all passengers to wear masks during boarding and flights, and they’ll conduct temperature checks as you board. Anyone with a fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher won’t be allowed to fly. For more details on Frontier’s updated cleaning measures, visit their website.
